Donovan attended Parsons School of Design in New York City and left in 1972 to work for wunderkind Barbara D’arcy the force behind Bloomingdales Department Store’s Home Furnishings division and the designer of the their uber famous Room Settings.  “I never knew I’d work in a retail setting but I loved it for exactly 3 years" Then he left to work for two interior designers in NYC and started his own design company in 1977.
